World's Largest Producer of Jeans
First in Class
We are skilled at managing the complexities of a global supply chain to consistently deliver our brands to the marketplace and meet the demands of a fast-changing business environment.
Our teams work on forecasting, planning and procurement for both our own internally manufactured products and those we source from suppliers.
We believe it’s not just about making products, but doing so in a responsible way. In fact, responsible sourcing is an imperative at VF, and we’re committed to sourcing all of our apparel, footwear and accessories in a way that’s good for people and the planet. As we address that commitment, we fully understand that our actions speak louder than our words.

The word that best describes our global sourcing strategy is “balanced.” We’re not overly dependent on any given region or country. This allows us to competitively manage cost, as well as source closer to end markets.
For example, we source about 40 percent of our production in the Americas, which is more than double the industry average.

We combine our 115 years of manufacturing expertise with the flexibility of our supplier network in what we call the “Third Way.” By utilizing proprietary factory engineering and factory equipment, we leverage our knowledge and technology to control costs so our partners can achieve the kind of labor efficiency that we have in our own factories. And we hold our suppliers to the same high standards of environmental and social responsibility found in our owned facilities.
VF Responsible Sourcing
At VF, we own and operate 24 world-class manufacturing sites and contract with more than 1,000 supplier factories to produce our products. Through our Responsible Sourcing program, we are sharing our values-driven internal manufacturing model with these contract suppliers to positively influence our supply chain and the industry.
Conflict Minerals Policy
In 2012, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted rules intended to address the exploitation and trade of conflict minerals by armed groups to finance violent conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries in Africa (the DRC region).
As one of the world's largest apparel companies, we take our social responsibilities seriously. VF is committed to sourcing product and materials from companies that share our values around human rights, ethics and environmental responsibility.
VF believes that ensuring social responsibility and environmental sustainability in our supply chain is a collaborative effort. That’s why our contract supplier factories are expected to comply with VF’s Terms of Engagement and our Global Compliance Principles and are regularly audited by internal and third-party auditors. Our goal is for every supplier factory to operate with the same high standards as our 30 company-owned manufacturing facilities.
