From Merchandising Manager to Vice President

David Ho joined VF more than 15 years ago as a Merchandising Manager for The North Face®, based in Hong Kong. Since that time, David’s career has illustrated the mobility that is possible for VF associates.

In 2003, he moved to Shanghai to take on the role of Country Manager of China, where he helped with the Vans® integration following VF’s acquisition of the brand in 2004. In 2008, he moved to Bangkok and in 2009 he was named Director of Regional Offices.

David moved back to Hong Kong in 2013, and since 2014, he has served as the Vice President of Regional Offices in Hong Kong.

What is the most rewarding part of your VF career?

I’ve had the opportunity to live in other countries, learn about different cultures and build teams comprised of people with different backgrounds and ways of thinking. VF has so many brands with interesting possibilities and challenges. There’s always an opportunity for exploration. 

What is a benefit to working with colleagues from different parts of the world?

Under the leadership training program, I built relationships with team members from other parts of the world. Their knowledge and mindset differed from mine and helped me look at issues from various angles.

What’s the best part about working at VF?

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received? 

If offered, take the opportunity to live in different countries and work with associates from different cultures. Be mobile and explore.
