VF Sponsors NEEF’s National Public Lands Day

VF continues to support our planet as it joined the National Environmental Education Foundation’s (NEEF) National Public Land Day (NPLD) to connect people to their communities and inspire environmental stewardship.

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands. On Saturday, September 22, more than 20,000 volunteers across the U.S. showed up at parks, forests, beaches, rivers, and other public lands to celebrate the 25th annual National Public Lands Day. They helped with trail maintenance and planting projects, trash pick-ups and other refurbishing activities.

“It’s an honor to support such an impactful and important initiative,” said Scott Dietz, Vice President, Public Affairs. “This year’s theme of resilience and restoration speaks not only to the resilience of our public lands, but VF’s consistent dedication to our planet. We will continue to give greater meaning to the work we do and power movements that allow our associates and planet to thrive.”

Organized by NEEF, NPLD promotes the connection between people and the environment by inviting everyone to get outside. In just one day, the volunteer effort provides tens of millions of dollars’ worth of services that would otherwise take months to accomplish.

“Natural disasters and extreme weather, human activities, and a host of other factors wreak havoc on our public lands and threaten the health and wellbeing of the people and wildlife who depend on them,” said NEEF President Meri-Margaret Deoudes. “If we want to continue to enjoy all the benefits these outdoor spaces have to offer, we have to help care for, restore and work to make these special places more resilient to future threats.”
