VF Foundation Provides Aid To Victims Of Indonesian Flooding

Historic rains and devastating floods have forced thousands from their homes

  • The VF Foundation is donating more than $21,000 to help the victims of historic, devastating flooding in Indonesia. Two of our associates are among thousands who suffered damage to their homes.
  • The donation includes a Foundation grant matching all associate contributions.
  • Associates lent a helping hand by delivering food and supplies to a local orphanage affected by the flood.

At their peak, the torrential storms, which started New Year’s Eve, forced 173,000 people to seek refuge and submerged 74 districts of Jakarta, West Java and Banten. As recently as January 28, European relief reports estimated that six districts remained underwater and that close to 4,000 people were in shelters. The flooding also claimed the lives of 67 people.

The VF Foundation and associates are donating nearly $21,400 in aid to people affected by the historic rains and devastating floods in Indonesia. The money will provide shelter, cooked meals, clean water, clothes, blankets, and medical services to those who are affected.

“In keeping with our purpose-led core value, The VF Foundation and our associates have come together to provide much-needed aid at a critical time,” said Gloria Schoch, Director, The VF Foundation. “Many VF associates were involved in a very personal and meaningful way, delivering food and supplies to an orphanage in Jakarta that was badly impacted by the floods. We know that two of our associates had damage to their homes; we are especially concerned when natural disasters impact our VF family.”
