Rolling Up Our Sleeves in New York City: VF’s Annual Service Trip

Story Highlights:

  • This month, employees from across VF Corporation came together in New York City to participate in the second annual VF Service Trip.
  • Employees volunteered with VF Foundation grantee partners on various projects and mentoring moments, including building workbenches, cleaning and repairing a skatepark, and hosted micro-mentoring sessions for students interested in the industry.

At VF, service creates opportunities for employees to come together, support our partners and make a tangible impact.

In August 2026, VF hosted its second annual Service Trip, bringing together 10 employees from across our brands, regions, retail stores, distribution centers and corporate teams for several days of hands-on volunteerism in New York City. VF participants were eligible for the trip by completing 40+ hours of service over the previous year, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work.

Sponsored this year by Nina Flood, the Timberland® Global Brand President, the Service Trip reflects VF’s belief that community engagement goes beyond financial contributions. It is an opportunity for employees to roll up their sleeves, work side by side and directly support organizations creating a lasting local impact.

Over the course of three days, employees partnered with organizations whose missions align closely with our values and our brands. This year, each nonprofit partner was also a VF Foundation grantee, underscoring how VF, our brands and the Foundation deepen relationships through both funding and active engagement.

The trip began with Tools & Tiaras, an organization focused on introducing girls ages 6–17 to skilled trades and helping them see new possibilities for their futures. A VF Foundation grant subsidized the cost of the week-long camp for every participant, removing a key barrier to access. Building on Timberland’s existing connection with the organization, VF volunteers built permanent workshop tables to replace temporary setups. Employees and campers also worked together to create a mural that now serves as a vibrant reminder that “jobs don’t have genders.”

On Wednesday, the team joined The Skatepark Project, a long-standing partner of both Vans® and The VF Foundation, at Owl’s Head Park in Brooklyn. Volunteers helped clean and repaint the skatepark, including a massive bowl and surrounding walls, bringing fresh energy to the space through teamwork, creativity and determination. The group also helped young people build skateboards and join a skate clinic, with many stepping onto a board for the very first time — a powerful reminder of how access, encouragement and community can open new doors.

The final day of service centered on the Fashion Scholarship Fund, another important partner to The VF Foundation and VF brands. Following two days of retail immersion experiences at The North Face, Timberland and Vans stores, 18 Community College Scholars visited the VF showroom for a micro-mentoring session. With opening remarks from Nina Flood, employees shared career journeys, offered practical guidance and provided one-on-one mentorship designed to help students build confidence as they pursue their futures.

The annual Service Trip also serves as an important kickoff to Servapalooza, VF’s two-month long global corporate service activation. Throughout Servapalooza, VF teams organize service opportunities and encourage employees to volunteer with organizations that matter to them and the communities they call home.

As we continue to build on this annual tradition, the Service Trip and Servapalooza reflect how VF’s commitment to meaningful impact comes to life through action. These moments of service are a powerful reminder of what is possible when people come together to support their communities.
