Returning to its alpine roots, the Summit Nuptse delivers the lightest, warmest Nuptse to date, while the Pertex Reversible Nuptse provides 2-in-1 style and functionality
The North Face®, a global leader in expedition-proven apparel and equipment, today celebrates the legacy of its iconic Nuptse jacket with the introduction of two reimagined new styles designed for modern exploration, from the summit to the city: the Summit Nuptse and Pertex Reversible Nuptse.
A trusted staple for generations of explorers, the Nuptse enters its next chapter with products that blend the silhouette’s unmistakable heritage with advanced performance materials and technical design.
Developed with insights from The North Face athlete team and tested in demanding conditions, the Summit Nuptse is designed to be the lightest and warmest Nuptse to date. The new style reflects the brand’s expedition roots, pairing a familiar color-blocked look with mountain-ready innovations, including the first insulated hood in the Nuptse line.

Made with recycled nylon and targeted ultralight woven ripstop fabric with Spectra® yarns, the Summit Nuptse is built for lightweight durability and abrasion resistance. Its CLOUD DOWN™ construction is designed to reduce cold spots and improve packability, while 800-fill ProDown™ helps retain loft in wet conditions for lightweight warmth and compressibility. Additional features include a relaxed fit for layering, secure-zip hand pockets, two internal drop-in pockets, stretch-knit cuffs with FLASHDRY™ technology, and an adjustable, packable, climbing-helmet-compatible hood.
The Pertex Reversible Nuptse updates one of the brand’s most recognizable silhouettes with materials and features intended to support both mountain use and everyday wear. Its relaxed, reversible design offers two distinct looks: one side a cleaner, more modern aesthetic, while the reverse references the original Nuptse with oversized baffles and classic color blocking.
Built with Pertex® Quantum fabric, the Pertex Reversible Nuptse provides wind resistance and water repellency to help improve the thermal efficiency of its 700-fill recycled down insulation. Updated details include zippered hand pockets and internal hem adjustment on both sides, along with articulated sleeves and elastic fold-over cuffs for improved fit and comfort.
“When the Nuptse jacket first launched in 1992, its innovative construction and reliable protection in extreme conditions quickly made it a sought-after essential on expeditions. It soon achieved icon status in both performance and lifestyle circles around the world,” said Chris Goble, Global Brand President at The North Face. “The introduction of two reimagined Nuptse styles not only honors the heritage of the original jacket through its distinctive, beloved design, but also delivers pinnacle performance through innovative product features and modern materials for explorers everywhere, no matter where their journey takes them.”
As The North Face marks six decades of equipping explorers, the new Summit Nuptse and Pertex Reversible Nuptse bring technical innovation to an enduring icon built for today’s adventures, whether in alpine environments or urban settings.
