Diversity Best Practices Recognizes VF’s Employee Resource Group in the Asia Pacific Region

VF Corporation’s Millennial Plus Leadership Group has been named a Diversity Best Practices ‘Above and Beyond’ recipient in the “Business Impact” category. VF was honored at the Diversity Best Practices’ Network & Affinity Leadership Congress in Chicago earlier this month with an Honorable Mention award.

 “This recognition is an outstanding testament to VF’s efforts to cultivate a collective of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences among our workforce,” said Sean Cady, Vice President, Global Responsible Sourcing at VF and the executive sponsor of the Group. “As we continue to formalize our Diversity & Inclusion strategy at the company, employee resource groups such as the Millennial Plus Leadership Group will be an important mechanism for driving collaboration and inclusion.”

 VF’s Millennial Plus Leadership Group, an organization of high-performing millennial associates from around the world, was formed to address a gap that the organization noticed forming between senior leaders and millennial associates in VF’s Asia Sourcing Office.  This office is an essential component of VF’s global supply chain, so VF pulled together associates from India, Bangladesh, Thailand, the United States and Hong Kong, along with senior leaders, to meet monthly to network, share best practices and address real business issues, such as how to effectively recruit other millennial candidates, address workplace policies and design a work environment supportive of this generation.

 “Through the Millennial Plus Leadership Group, we have been able to foster relationships that might not have otherwise been possible. The Group brings associates together beyond their function or location within VF, creating a new level of collaboration and new opportunities,” said Jacqui Algar, Vice President, Human Resources, VF Asia.

Diversity Best Practices, a division of Working Mother Media, is an organization for diversity thought leaders to share best practices and develop innovative solutions for culture change. VF formed the Millennial Plus Group as part of a pilot program for employee resource groups, which it plans to roll out more broadly over the next year.
