VF Statement Regarding ASPI Report Inaccuracies

VF is committed to upholding internationally recognized human rights throughout our global supply chain, including prohibiting any forced labor or modern slavery.

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s (ASPI) “Uyghurs for Sale” policy brief, which connects VF Corporation’s brand The North Face® to Nanjing Synergy Textiles is incorrect. VF and The North Face have never had a business relationship with Nanjing Synergy Textiles. VF ended its relationship with the parent company, Victory City Holdings International, in July 2016, two years prior to the October 2018 news reports regarding Xinjiang workers that are referenced in the ASPI report.

VF clearly communicated the facts to ASPI. As of July 28, ASPI removed the inaccurate association of The North Face with Nanjing Synergy Textiles in its report. Any entity citing an old version of the ASPI report as evidence attempting to connect VF or The North Face to Nanjing Synergy Textiles is contributing to the spread of false information.

We believe that VF, in partnership with others in our industry, plays an important role in upholding human rights and eradicating forced labor of all kinds from global apparel and footwear supply chains. Comprehensive and sustainable solutions require commitment and cooperation across our industry, along with civil society and governments who are willing to engage. VF remains committed to working on solutions.
